FAQ

Why Is Salt Therapy Becoming More Popular?

For more than 20 years dry salt aerosol, administered in specially-designed halochambers, has been used to treat upper and lower respiratory conditions such as cold and flu, allergy, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, sinus infection, sinusitis, rhinitis, hay fever and emphysema.
100% drug free, scientists and researchers developed salt therapy as a means of concentrating the positive effects of salt observed in nature.
It was in 1843 that the concept on which salt therapy is based was first published by a physician. After observing the remarkably low incidence of respiratory conditions in salt mine workers who were regularly exposed to air saturated with saline dust, the concept of speleotherapy (salt cave therapy) was born.
More recently, research published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that salt inhalation was a highly effective treatment for cystic fibrosis after observations for sufferers lead to clinical trials.

Why Is Salt Therapy So Relaxing?

Salt is negative, but that is positive!  Salt has the natural ability to balance out the positive charge in our bodies by binding the excessive positive ions with salt’s negative ions. The neutralizing forces of salt cancel out positive charged and harmful electromagnetic vibrations in our environment (electro-smog), as well as in our body. Hence, salt therapy has de-stressing and relaxing effects. In addition, our rooms have comfortable recliners and calming music in a quiet environment making your session super relaxing while getting all the natural benefits of salt therapy.

What Should I Expect & What Should I Wear?

Every wall surface, including the floor, is covered with natural rock salt to create a sterilized and negative ion environment. The Salt Room also uses the newest top-of-the-line halogenerators to crush pharmaceutical grade salt into small particles for inhalation creating the microclimate.
Most choose to wear exercise type clothing. Some like their skin to be exposed. Others like to cover up and even bring a little throw blanket or beach towel as the rooms can get a little cold.
Bring water with you for your drive home as you will likely find yourself to be thirsty as that salt continues to work in your body! We will also have water for you once your session is over.
Salt binds with moisture internally and thins mucus, so you may get a runny nose; but, no fear, we provide tissues in the salt rooms!

Will My Child Get Bored in the Kids Salt Room?

Kids that come to The Salt Room love it! Think about being at the beach but without having to wear sunscreen! We encourage your kids to dig, scoop and play with the salt. We have many toys for your kids to use to play. We also have a TV in the room, just in case! For parents who enter the room with their kids, we have comfortable chairs for you to sit. Not only do kids love being in the salt room, but the halogenerator that blows salt into the room will provide the holistic benefits your child needs if they suffer from certain medical conditions such as asthma, sinus infections, acne and eczema to name just a few!

What is Infrared Sauna Therapy?

Infrared sauna is a relaxing therapy that facilitates an invigorating and detoxifying deep tissue sweat, leaving you fully refreshed after each session. Unlike traditional saunas, full spectrum infrared saunas use special heaters that directly penetrate into the body.
The infrared energy augments the body’s healing mechanisms, allowing toxins and pollutants stored in fat cells to be dissolved and washed away through natural body functions. Since infrared light can penetrate human tissue, this sauna, in turn, produces a host of anti-aging health benefits as well as relief from chronic pain.

Infrared sauna has also been scientifically proven to encourage weight loss, and a typical session in an infrared sauna can burn as many as 300-600 calories. As your body works hard to cool itself down, your heart rate elevates and your metabolism increases, causing you to burn calories without strenuous exercise.
